Meet The Forest Habitats
JOZANI FOREST & BUTTERFLY CENTER
Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is about an hour car ride from Stone Town. The ride itself is very picturesque and you will be able to stop and take pictures on the way. Once we arrive at the park, our guide will bring you into the home of a rare Red Colobus Monkey, which can only be seen in Zanzibar. These monkeys are not selfie-shy at all and they can make great addition to your photo collection! We will also spot the Sykes’ Monkey cohabitating in the forest. These creatures are a little shyer, but very fun to watch. We will then walk by the “medicine” forest, where our guide will teach you about different plants and trees grown there, many of which cure common diseases. At the end of our stroll, we will walk to the mangrove boardwalk where we will observe the habitat of the mangrove trees.
